Legendary trainers of U. S. Air Force at Pardubice Airshow

Pardubice Airport has been associated with military pilot training for a quarter of a century and military training aircraft belong to the Pardubice airport. Visitors to this year's 29thAviation Fair will also be able to see for themselves on 1stand 2ndof June at the Pardubice airport. In addition to the current Air Training Center aircraft, two legendary trainer machines used to train American pilots in both World War II and subsequently since the late 1940s will be introduced to the audience as well.

“There are demanding requirements for training aircraft. They have to endure challenging traffic in flight schools, often endure inexperienced handling by student pilots, and forgive many mistakes, but on the other hand, they should not be basically flying themselves, ”says Jan Rudzinskyj from the Aviation Fair organizing committee and continues: “Both aircraft meet these requirements, as evidenced by the number of units produced, their long service and, above all, thousands of trained pilots. The older of the pair is the legendary Boeing Stearman biplane. Its origin falls into the first half of the thirties, but it was the main type for pilot training during World War II, when it was used not only by U. S Air Force and U. S. Navy pilots, but British RAF and several Czechoslovak pilots among others as well. The second type is essentially a successor to the Boeing Stearman in U. S. Air Force. It is  Beechcraft T-34 Mentor and just by comparing the two aircraft the development of aviation during the Second World War is evident. This progress was also reflected in the design of the training machines, as  Mentor is a all-metal low-wing  monoplane with retractable landing gear and a closed canopy, providing much more comfort to the crew than the Boeing Stearman open cockpits. ”
A rich, more than five-hours long flight program will include a number of other interesting aircraft, ready for visitors at the Pardubice airport on June 1stand 2nd. It will also include a unique and unrepeatable Czech premiere of the Red Bull Air Race, and of course there will be a laden ground program with a diverse range of attractions, children's competitions and demonstrations.
