The Pardubice Aviation Fair is popular with both spectators and pilots, with many foreign pilots saying they would like to come again for the next year when leaving. For years, a congenial team with historic airplanes decorated by red bulls on their fuselages is a part of this group. Of course, they will not miss this year's 28th edition of the Aviation Fair, which will be held on 2nd and 3rd of June at Pardubice Airport.
The legendary twin-boomed Second World War fighter Lockheed P-38 Lightning will arrive with the group this year. Jan Rudzinskyj from the Aviation Fair organizing committee provides some information regarding the airplane. "Lightning is not new to the Aviation Fair, we have welcomed it twice before and it never failed to attract attention of the audience. On one hand by its beautifully polished all-metal surface and also an unusual design features with a small central gondola and two long booms running from the engines to the tail surfaces. However, the flight performance is quite unique, too. Twin Allison engines give the airplane significant power, making the Lightning dynamic and graceful in the sky, promising the viewers something to look forward to. In addition to a flight demonstration, Lightning will participate in a large group of historical airplanes, in the so-called BALBO, which we are looking forward to in this year's program in the Pardubice skies. This unique spectacle sparks a great deal of interest from both spectators and pilots."
Historical Lightning is just one of a flying airplanes participating in a more than five-hour long flight program. For visitors, the Pardubice Airport will be open on 2nd and 3rd of June from 8 AM and there will be a rich ground based program with a number of different activities for children besides the flight program.
