Unfortunately, keenly anticipated, largest historical aircraft on the show, Lockheed Constellation, will not participate in this year's 27th Aviation Fair, taking place on 3rd and 4th June at the Pardubice airport.
"Over the weekend we have received an unpleasant message from representatives of the Swiss Super Constellation Flyers Association, in which the operators of the legendary four-engined aircraft Lockheed Constellation apologize to all airshow organizers who were promised their participation in the near future. Historical Constellation will not only miss the Aviation Fair, but visitors of at least ten more European airshows will not be able to enjoy its elegant shape. Technical problems discovered during maintenance are the reason for cancelled participation. Initially, the operators expected that the airplane will be ready by the end of April and it will fly through the airshow season, including a scheduled tour, in best shape possible. Unfortunately, the complexity of the work required a shift in the term, which is now scheduled for at least mid-June. Obviously, this is not good news for us, but it will not endanger the program, built on several dozen aerial performances. Of course, in the absence of the historic Constellation, planned sightseeing flight will not take place, and we are in contact with all those who have signed up for this exclusive flight so far, "says Jan Rudzinskyj, of the Aviation Fair`s organizing staff about the cancellation.
More information about the program and news from the preparations for the Aviation Fair, taking place at Pardubice Airport on the weekend of 3rd and 4th June 2017, can be found at www.aviatickapout.cz
Dear Pardubice organizers,
I have enclosed an email received from the Super Constellation Association stating that the Super Connie is grounded until Mid June which is very sad and changing the Black Sheep Tour project.
Nevertheless the other aircraft are still available for the show. I need to know as soon as possible what if you are still interested.
I am very disappointed by this news so close from the departure date as it will be a very difficult financial recover for me.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
I am traveling to Kuala Lumpur but will be available if you need to contact me.
Ladies and Gentlemen, valued Connie supporters,
At the beginning of April you were informed of a delay in the opening
of the 2017 flying season due to technical difficulties. At that time the
season was estimated to start in the middle of May. It has now become
apparent that we will not be able to meet this estimated deadline.
Manufacturing the wing flap link rods has turned out to be much more
involved of a process than we had originally anticipated. The reasons
include the fact that creating and developing blue prints for these parts
is significantly more challenging than the actual process of manufacturing
them. Consequently, this stage has taken up more time than we had
anticipated which caused further delays that in turn resulted the season
start being pushed back even more. At this time, maintenance team
members estimate that the flying season will not begin until at least
June 19, 2017.
The following planned flights will be cancelled as a result: RUAG, STEAMDAY
COMBO A+B, PARADE NAVALE, BLUEMLISALP, SAURER, DORNIER,
SHOWTIME (Pardubice/CZ), LEIPZIG 90, JUBILÄUM, and AUENSEE.
There are no alternative dates set for the above flights; therefore, they
will be cancelled.
The following planned flights will be conducted on their respective alternative
dates: JAMIE (new date June 19), PAYERNE (new date August 31), FRIBOURG
(new date August 31), BIVIO (new date July 29), TICINO BELLO (new date
July 29) and Wollis (new date August 13).
The board regrets this additional delay, and we kindly ask for your understanding.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to the maintenance team along with
external supporters who have been working tirelessly in order to get the Connie
back into the air again very soon.
