This year’s Aviation fair, which is held at the Pardubice Airport on 6–7 June, will feature a premiere performance by stuntwoman Peggy Walentin in Pardubice. During her unique display she will perform both on the upper wing of the biplane and in-between the wings. Pardubice has never seen a similar performance in the entire history of Aviation Fairs.
“Peggy Walentin has been performing this display for seventeen years and so far she has given eight hundred shows. Interestingly, the Boeing Stearman PT-17 biplane, which Peggy is performing her stunts on, is piloted by her husband Friedrich Walentin. He has been flying since he was thirteen years old when he started training on gliders. During his four decades of experience he has also worked as a test pilot. Their Boeing Stearman PT-17 biplane was manufactured in 1943 for training needs of US military pilots. The current model has a more efficient nine-cylinder engine and several aerodynamic modifications compared to the original design. In addition, it is equipped with a horizontal bar on the upper wing and a smoke generator to enhance the effect of aerobatic manoeuvres. It is not a slow biplane as the whole performance when Peggy is out of the cockpit takes place at speeds of 140–240 km/h, “ says Jan Rudzinskyj from the Aviation Fair organizing team on the details of this unique performance.
