The premiere performance of the legendary American twin-boom fighter aircraft P-38L Lightning was a major event of the 2009 Aviation Fair. This newly renovated aircraft at that time was still going through a period of testing and naturally, the pilot wanted to spare it, yet this silver gem with a red bull at its nose enthralled the visitors. We are delighted that after five years it will again fly up to the sky in Pardubice. At the Aviation Fair on 31 May and 1 June it will perform together with two other historic aircrafts from World War II, all of which have their “home” in Salzburg. This Austrian city houses a collection of aircrafts flying in the colours of the well-known energy-drink manufacturer Red Bull. Apart from Lightning, the Aviation Fair will be visited by the American twin-engine bomber aircraft B-25J Mitchell and naval fighter F-4U-4 Corsair, which served mainly at US bases and aircraft-carriers in the Pacific during the Second World War.
“We have already received the programme of their air show from our Austrian colleagues, so we can reveal that the visitors will see a performance by the whole group, when several thousand horsepower hidden under the cowlings of five historic engines will roar simultaneously over the Pardubice airport, as well as solo demonstrations by the individual aircrafts. The visitors will also have the opportunity to watch the duo performance by Lightning and Corsair featuring a synchronized loop. This unique stunt among historic aircrafts was rehearsed by Red Bull pilots only last year and they perform it very rarely. The only public demonstration so far was in La Ferte Alais in France. We as the organizers of the Aviation Fair are very pleased that our air show in Pardubice will become the second destination where this loop will be performed. The visitors really have something to look forward to on 31 May and 1 June, “ says Jan Rudzinskyj from the Aviation Fair organizing team on the upcoming programme.
